Reclaimed Oak Hardwood Floor Install & Master Bath Remodel

Jarvis Custom Builders was tasked with a big project in a small space that had even bigger results. The owners of a small cabin alongside the Gallatin River wanted to update their master bedroom and ensuite bath. They specifically wanted a new hardwood floor in the bedroom and a bathroom remodel, and Jarvis Custom Builders delivered.
To begin, JCB had to remove all bedroom furniture and furnishings and move them temporarily to the owner’s garage onsite. Once the room was clear to begin demolition, JCB removed the existing wall-to-wall carpeting that also covered the top landing of the main staircase. Besides old carpet, the used tack strip and carpet pad were also removed from the master bedroom floor. Along with the carpet coming out, the existing wall, vanity and tile in the bathroom floor and shower also had to be removed.
JCB trenched the bathroom floor in order to: install a new linear shower drain, new toilet placement and to add water shut off valves for the 2 sinks in the vanity. With the addition of the new drain in the vanity JCB installed 2 vessel granite sinks.
The owners wanted a brighter ensuite bath. To accomplish this, new recessed ceiling lights were installed above the shower stall and a new glass enclosed shower was built to help highlight the natural beauty that surrounds this cozy cabin. More power was added to the vanity to allow for the new outlets and lights that were added by JCB. Sheetrock was removed to rewire for the new electrical and plumbing.
To complete this project JCB applied 6 coats of yellow tung oil to the new floor to help protect it from normal wear and tear along with 3 coats of Bon Mega HD floor polyurethane for extra protection. This combination helps to seal in the natural look of the newly installed hardwood. The wood chosen for this project was a reclaimed oak with random width planking. After the install work was done JCB finished with construction-site clean up and replacement of the bedroom furniture. This project took 5 weeks and within the agreed deadline.
