New Redwood Deck and Band Sawn Fir Railing Remodel along the Gallatin River
Posted Oct. 21st, 2015 by Sabah Jarvis
Jarvis Custom Builders finished up this remodel in the Gallatin Canyon earlier this season. This install happened just in time for the home owners to appreciate the brilliant Montana fall colors from their updated deck.
This project included removal of existing wood rails and decking to make way for new decking and new handrails. The home owners chose to replace the old deck with Redwood planks. Redwood is a no-maintenance option because it will weather and grey naturally. This will create in time a rustic weathered appearance to the deck. Band sawn fir rails were also chosen for the railings and for the panels in between them. Jarvis Custom Builders also installed tasteful lead caps to the deck posts to protect them from moisture and rotting.
This deck faced the Gallatin River where Jarvis Custom Builders had the opportunity to view moose on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, the moose were camera shy and did not pose for any photos. Here are some photos of the install work before the wood has been stained. These home owners have a spectacular view from their new deck!
